The Warrior boys and girls cross country teams turned in strong performances at the SA Patriots Meet, competing in the highly competitive 4A-and-under division. The teams are currently led by Lily Rumbo and Daniel Alva, who both impressed against large fields. Rumbo finished 8th out of 184 runners, while Alva placed 11th out of 181.

“Our boys and girls teams ran well, and both continue to show growth with each race,” said Head Coach Chris Moralez.

The Ingram Warrior Cross Country teams continued to show growth this past weekend against tough competition on a full 5K course.

For the girls, Lily Rumbo paced the team with a 16th-place finish out of 100 runners, averaging 6:45 per mile. All five Lady Warriors ran well and finished strong, improving from last week’s effort.

On the boys’ side, the Warriors placed 6th overall as a team. Daniel Alva Negrete led the way in 22nd place with a 5:58 pace, followed by Shaan Swisher in 27th (6:02 pace) and Jordan Reif in 36th (6:15 pace) out of 118 runners.

“Our runners are putting in the work and it’s showing,” said Head Coach Chris Moralez. “We had solid improvements across the board this week, and the kids are gaining confidence every time they line up. I’m proud of their effort and excited to see how they perform at home.”

Warriors Shine on Home Course at Ingram Cross Country Meet
The Warriors hosted the Ingram Warrior Cross Country Meet on September 13, drawing strong competition from across the region and delivering an impressive showing on their home course.

The boys varsity team finished 2nd overall, led by Daniel Alva Negrete in 4th place (17:16), Jordan Rief in 7th (17:26), and Barrett Simone in 13th (18:13). Dominic Alonzo (18:58) and Bailey Hairston (19:19) rounded out the scoring five, with Parker Symm (19:42) and August Pickens (20:07) close behind to secure depth points.

On the girls’ side, Lily Rumbo placed 5th overall in the varsity race with a time of 13:11, while Miranda Hernandez and Daniela Guevara turned in solid efforts to help anchor the Lady Warrior team.

“Our kids really rose to the challenge of running on their home course,” said Head Coach Chris Moralez. “The boys finishing 2nd as a team against this level of competition is a big step forward, and our girls continue to show improvement every week. We’re proud of the effort across all levels.”

In JV and middle school divisions, Ingram was well represented with strong individual performances, including Willow Woodruff (7th grade, 15:17) and Eloise Morris (8th grade, 16:14).

Warriors Shine at McNeil Cross Country Invitational
The Ingram Warriors tested themselves against some of the toughest competition in Texas at the McNeil Cross Country Invitational in Round Rock and came away with strong performances across the board.

In the RunFar posted standings (1A–3A division), sophomore Daniel Alva Negrete led the boys with a time of 18:39.5, followed closely by Jordan Rief (18:45), Barrett Simone (18:56), and teammates Dominic Alonzo, Bailey Hairston, Parker Symm, and August Pickens, all finishing under 21 minutes. On the girls’ side, Lily Rumbo paced the Lady Warriors at 14:13.7, with solid efforts from Miranda Hernandez, Daniela Guevara, and Emery Neal.

In the official meet results, the Warriors were even stronger, with Negrete (17:16), Rief (17:26), and Simone (18:13) finishing in the top 15. Rumbo was also credited with a top-five finish (13:11) in her race.

“Our kids ran with a lot of heart against an incredibly deep field,” said head Coach Chris Moralez. "We are getting stronger every week, and should be in contention for a regional place for both teams.”

With a strong nucleus returning for the 1998 season, the Warriors lost the state title by one point to Brownfield in the UIL meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. Shelley Octon finished sixth, covering the 2-mile course in 12-minutes, 38-seconds. Other finishers were:

1997 girls state championship team

The 1997 girls team won Ingram Tom Moore's first girls state title with.a thrilling win at the UIL State Meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on Nov. 9, 1997. Led by Lesley Bishop's fourth-place finish, covering the 2-mile course in 12-minutes, 38-seconds, the Warriors scored 74 points to defeat Cameron Yoe for the championship. Rounding out the Warriors state title roster was:

The Ingram Tom Moore Warriors girls cross country teams of the 1990s erupted for a thrilling run to the state meet and a second-place finish, losing by three points to Clint for the 3A team title — the first run at Round Rock's Old Settlers Park. Lesley Bishop's second-place finish helped lead the Warriors and Bishop covered the the 2-mile course in a school-record 11-minutes, 56-seconds.
