Warriors Build Rhythm Through Tournament Play

The Warriors quickly found their stride in the Natalia Tournament, going 4–1 and falling only to Jourdanton in the final — mirroring last year’s result.

High Scorers & Rebound Leaders — Jourdanton Championship Game

In the tournament’s closing matchup:

  • Josh Woodruff led scoring with 11 points, converting efficiently at the free-throw line and adding 4 rebounds.
  • Cason Anders chipped in 7 points along with 4 key rebounds, helping the Warriors stay within striking distance early.
  • Luey Carrillo added 7 points and 4 rebounds, giving ITM much-needed interior toughness.
  • Will Symm and Cadyn Reed added rebounding support, including multiple defensive boards that helped slow Jourdanton’s pace.

While not the result the Warriors wanted, the matchup gave the team sharper timing, better spacing, and clearer offensive identity heading into this week.

Head Coach Ray Fierro emphasized the team’s toughness:

“I’m proud of how our boys responded this week—especially coming straight out of football,“ said Fierro. “Their effort, their attitude, and their willingness to compete says everything about who they are. Tournament season is about growth, and we’re already seeing it every game.”

Learning Through Competition

The Warriors entered the Comfort Tournament and delivered a balanced performance, finishing with two wins and two losses while gaining valuable experience against high-quality competition.

In their opening game, the Warriors set the tone with a strong defensive effort, controlling tempo and executing on offense to earn a tournament-opening victory. Friday’s matchups presented a steeper challenge, as the Warriors faced two well-rounded teams that exposed areas for growth—particularly in ball security and transition defense. Rather than fold, the Warriors responded with focus and determination, closing the tournament with a strong win that reflected their ability to adjust and respond.

Statistically, the Warriors continued to show improvement in assist numbers, rebounding effort, and defensive activity, all indicators of growing team chemistry. Tournament play highlighted the importance of cohesion—reading each other, communicating on defense, and trusting the extra pass.

The Warriors saw multiple players step up throughout the Comfort Tournament and recent non-district matchups, reflecting a team beginning to play more connected basketball.

  • Luey Carrillo provided a consistent scoring punch, leading the Warriors in points during tournament play while also contributing defensively with steals and rebounds.
  • Joshua Woodruff was dominant on the boards, pulling down double-digit rebounds in key games while also facilitating the offense from the post.
  • Cadyn Reed filled the stat sheet with points, assists, and defensive pressure, showing growth as a floor leader and creating opportunities for teammates.
  • Dominic Alonzo contributed across multiple categories, including assists, steals, and perimeter defense, showcasing the versatility the Warriors rely on as lineups continue to develop.
  • Will Symm brought steady defensive effort and rebounding, often guarding multiple positions and doing the little things that don’t always show up on the scoreboard but matter in close games.

“We’re starting to see guys understand their roles and when everyone buys in and does their part, the chemistry starts to show. Basketball is about chemistry, and that only comes with time on the floor together,” said Head Coach Ray Fierro. “We saw real growth this weekend. These guys are learning how to compete together, and that’s exciting as we head deeper into the season.”

Warriors fall by two in a heart-pounding finish

The Ingram Tom Moore Warriors boys followed with a thrilling contest that stayed tight until the final buzzer. Despite coming up just two points short, the Warriors showed tremendous grit and composure throughout.

  • Joshua Woodruff led the way with 14 points, shooting 83% from the floor and going 4-for-4 at the free-throw line.
  • Will Symm and Luey Carrillo each added 13 points, with Carrillo knocking down a key three and finishing strong inside.
  • Cadyn Reed chipped in 12 points, attacking the basket and competing on both ends for all 31 minutes.

Though the final score didn’t swing their way, the Warriors played with class, heart, and determination, never backing down in a tight road battle.

UIL 3A Division I Playoffs

Jim Ned 63, Ingram 60 - overtime

Year-End Recap & District Honors

The Ingram Warriors closed out their season with one of the most intense games of the year, falling to Jim Ned in a heartbreaking three-point overtime loss in the postseason. While the result stung in the moment, the game perfectly reflected the identity this team built all season long — resilience, grit, and a refusal to back down.

From the opening tip of the season to the final overtime possession, this group of Warriors proved they could compete with anyone. Time and again they battled through tough stretches, erased deficits, and forced opponents to earn every point.

Several of the Warriors’ losses throughout the season came by razor-thin margins, often in the closing minutes. On the other side of the ledger, their wins were decisive — the result of disciplined play, strong defensive pressure, and a team-first mentality that defined the program this year.

Head Coach Ray Fierro summed up the season best, “I’m incredibly proud of this group. They played all year with grit and determination. This team never quit, no matter the situation. They worked hard to overcome deficits and compete every possession. Our losses were by very small point spreads, and when we won, it was because the guys earned it with effort and teamwork.”

The Warriors’ success was reflected in District Honors, with several players recognized for their standout performances throughout the season:

  • First Team All-District: Luey Carrillo, Josh Woodruff, Will Symm
  • Second Team All-District: Cayden Reed
  • Honorable Mention: Dominic Alonzo

Beyond the awards and statistics, the biggest takeaway from this season is the foundation the Warriors have built moving forward. The team showed tremendous growth throughout the year — developing chemistry, confidence, and a competitive edge that will carry into next season.

The overtime playoff battle against Jim Ned may have closed the chapter on this year’s run, but it also served as a powerful reminder of what this group is capable of. The Warriors proved they can compete deep into the postseason, and with key contributors returning, the future looks bright.

Warrior Nation has plenty to be proud of — and even more to look forward to.
