Principal: Karenrose Vela

Dear Ingram Middle School Families,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at Ingram Middle School where “The Best Is Yet To Come”! I am Karenrose Vela, the Middle School Principal and proud Ingram ISD alum. It is my belief that our student body deserves a quality education and access to all learning opportunities. Our administration and staff have high expectations for the classroom instruction and the campus facilities that house us. We are a community of life-learners that promote academic excellence. Our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming, and academic environment for every one of our students.

This school year we are implementing two new programs that will aid in our students’ success. The AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program will support each of our students by providing much needed skills; organization, study, planning, self-advocacy, college/career preparation, and much more. The second program is a focus on Pathways, which pairs with the AVID implementation. Pathways will allow students exposure and exploration of various predominant career field clusters. Together, we are committed to working together toward the success of all the children at Ingram Middle School. Our motto: “The Best Is Yet To Come” is extremely fitting for the accelerated instruction that is taking place with these two programs’ simultaneous implementation.

This is my third year as an administrator with Ingram Independent School District. I am extremely proud to boast about being a product of Ingram ISD. My family was deeply rooted in the Hill Country, the Schreiners and Dieterts. My mother was a 20 year employee of the district and my father was on the school board for the majority of my secondary schooling. I attended college at Texas A&M for my Bachelors of Science in Sports Management, University of Texas at Tyler for my Masters of Educational in Educational Leadership, and Texas A&M Commerce for my Masters of Education in Physics. My husband works with our second language learners at Tom Moore High School and heads up both the Volleyball and Golf athletic programs. My son excitedly started 6th grade this school year, transitioning from Ingram Elementary School with his peers. Our family enjoys all sporting activities, camping, fishing, and extended family gatherings. I am proud to be the principal of Ingram Middle School. It warms my heart each and every day to see the smiling faces of our students and to have the opportunity to make a difference in their lives.

To help keep you informed about all the good things happening at Ingram Middle School, I encourage you to frequently visit our district Facebook page, district website, school website, and district app. Also, please take the time to listen to the call-outs that we occasionally record because they have very important, current messages that we need to share with our families. We use social media platforms to constantly highlight the amazing things our students are accomplishing. Make Ingram ISD a favorite so that you get alerts when posts are made.

All the best,

Karenrose Vela, IMS Principal
