Wampler wins area shot put title
With a toss of 48-feet, 3-inches, Ingram Tom Moore High School junior Curtis Wampler won the University Interscholastic League Area Championship at Wall High School on Thursday, earning himself a trip to the regional championship.
Wampler will compete at noon on April 28 at Abilene Christian Univerity in the regional championship meet. Wampler's performance was a seasonal best, winning the competition by more than a foot.
The Warriors received a fifth-place finish in the pole vault from Zehne Glover, who finished with a performance of 10-6.
In the girls meet, Cadence Woodruff placed fifth in the high jump, while the 4x200-meter relay team of Brooke Johns, Daniele Luna, Alec Alvarado and Brooke Waldrip placed fifth.
