By 2010, IISD will be a Texas Hill Country leader in academic excellence and recognized as innovative, dynamic, and an exhilarating community in which to learn, teach, and work.

Our purpose is to provide an environment for learning where each student masters the core curriculum, is continually inspired to new levels of intellectual challenge, thoughtfully prepares for a successful life after high school and looks forward to coming to school.

  1. Accountability: In 2007-2008, IISD will be a recognized district and will strive to achieve, by 2010, exemplary status as defined by state accountability standards.

  2. Curriculum: IISD will continue to develop and implement a curriculum that is aligned to the TEKS and to the TAKS, vertically aligned within the district, and has scope and sequence charts posted on the district website.

  3. Non-core Subjects/Electives: IISD will continue to offer, emphasize, and support academic options not tested by the State in order to develop a well-rounded citizen and offer each student options that best meet his/her individual needs.

  4. Budget: In 2007-2008, IISD will maintain a budget-balanced general operating fund and grow the fund balance.

  5. Facilities: By the end of 2008—
    • IISD will complete construction of two instructional wings on the secondary campus.
    • By using non-district funds, add an additional half million dollars to the Moore gift toward completion of a community auditorium on the IISD secondary campus.

  6. Staffing: IISD will develop a staffing plan that will ensure the recruitment of certified and highly qualified teachers and administrators. In addition, retention of effective teachers and administrators who reflect the vision of the district will be measured by no more than a 10 percent turnover rate as defined by the school board.

  7. Public Relations: IISD will improve the community’s confidence and support for the district through an aggressive public relations plan that will include, but not be limited to -
    • By August 2007, a dynamic, up-to-date website with state-of-the- art features and appropriate links.
    • Throughout the 2007-2008 school year, host district-wide community meetings.

  8. Culture of Caring: IISD will improve its “Culture of Caring” through strong partnerships between the district and the parents, teachers, staff, and students. This will include, but is not limited to effective communication, caring relationships, and positive role modeling at all levels.
